Audition Info

Play Synopsis:

This classic comedy opens as a group of the guys assemble for cards in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it's no wonder that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Unger, who has just been separated from his wife. Fastidious, depressed, and none too tense, Felix seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds, Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together with hilarious results as The Odd Couple is born.

  6. Attend the audition on Tuesday, December 5th from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. You are expected to be there for the full three hours.  Auditions will be completed as a group and have two parts:

    • Movement exercises & Character improv

    • Cold-reads from scenes

  7. Call Back Auditions will be Thursday, December 7th, 5:30 - 8:30 pm - if needed.

  • Review the character information and scenes in advance

  • Several characters have a New York/Bronx accent, or a British accent (the sister characters). It is not necessary to demonstrate an accent at auditions, but if you feel comfortable you may use it during scene reads.

  • Tips on Cold Reading:

    • Research the production: If it is a pre-existing script but you don’t know what part of the script or what character you are reading for, read the whole thing. You should always read as much of the script that is available.

    • Connect with your scene partner(s). This will help you slow down and really live through the imaginary circumstance. It will also make sure that you don’t keep your eyes on your script but bring them up to where the casting team can see your acting.

    • Show Variation. If you are asked to read for more than one character, make that character different from the last one you read for. And if you are asked to read for the same character more than once, find a different choice to make in the scene.

  • There will be a break over the holidays between December 22-26.  We might schedule one informal rehearsal - between Christmas and New Years - cast schedule dependent.

  • Until we are running through the full show, cast members will only be called for their scenes. Poker players and the Sisters will typically be two days per week until mid-January.

  • Tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances, and strike are mandatory.

  • Refer to the Actor/Cast Agreement for more information.
